Non-Newtonian Fluid aka Ooblec

Liquid or Solid?

Nope it's Oobleck!

Oobleck is a pressure-depent substance known as Non-Newtonian fluid. When you apply pressure to the mixture it's viscosity (thickness) increases. Depending on the amount of pressure applied the ooblecks viscosity may decrease.

Example: A quick tap to the oobleck will make it feel hard, because the conrnstarch particles are being forced together.  If you dip your hand slowly into the mixture, it will slide down into the substance with ease, because moving slowly is giving the cornstarch particles enough time to move about.
